American Flyer ALCO A Unit – 466 Comet Repaint – Nice Picture(s) and Description:

Cleaning out a few boxes this week. This is a postwar American Flyer ALCO diesel A unit shell that has been painted to look like an original 466 Comet...not sure if that is what it was originally but who cares? Nice job and colors are nice - blue may be a little dark (don't have one handy to compare). No scratches or dents I can see. All ladders there - 3-hole variety. Horns on top. Repo decals are complete and clean and bright...some clear coat would probably hide the decal film but even Gilbert didn't do that. This was on the "empty" power chassis I have listed so it appears screw holes are fine...at least most of them are. This will make a great operator for those who want to protect their fine originals - it looks great. That's it. Bid and be happy. Shipping is $9.00, as we are now required to include insurance in the shipping fees. I generally ship Priority Mail but reserve the right to use Parcel Post, First Class, UPS, or other means to save you money. Shipping shown is for 48 contiguous states; Hawaii and Alaska more. I will ship to Canada. Please wait for invoice. I accept paypal and more. I estimate shipping to the best of my ability - if I am off by more than $.50 I will refund the difference immediately when I return from post office. Item is sold as is - returns are allowed if I have misrepresented the item; please contact me if there is a problem. Thanks and good luck.

This is a very nice job on this repaint. I am a amatuer collector of american flyer trains and would love to repaint some of my worn engines or even change them to a different model. The problem I am having is how can you match the paint perfectly to the original. I know you can match regular paint with a computer generated match but do they do that for model paint as well? If anyone knows this info it would be greatly appreciated, Thanks
